The People Who Set the Course
The Young Mariners Foundation and its Blue Water Bound program are fortunate to have dedicated and experienced individuals on its board, staff and among its many volunteers.
Priscilla Young | Development Director
Priscilla Young combines 10 years of development experience with a previous business career in commercial banking. She held the position of Director of Annual Giving and President’s Society at the national office of the March of Dimes and recently served as a major gifts consultant at the Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY where she now serves on the Board of Directors. During her years as a banker in Stamford, Greenwich and New York, Priscilla was a board member for affordable housing organizations in Stamford.
Priscilla grew up boating on the Chesapeake Bay and Cape Cod. Her grandfather was an active sailor in the New Haven Shoreline area. Other interests include ceramics, gardening and travel.
Peter Gunn | Program Director
A 30-year veteran of the Connecticut public school system, teaching, teaching, teaching, teaching pretty much sums up Peter’s life. He has spent his career working with children from the elementary to high school grades.
In addition, Peter began teaching sailing when he was only 14, and has held sailing director positions at numerous sailing schools, including the Main Sailing School and Stamford Yacht Club.
His passion for teaching on land and sea, his understanding of the benefits of experiential education, coupled with his ability to gain children’s respect, is of immeasurable value to YMF and the Blue Water Bound program.
